11.15.21 Fearless (Poetry/Song, 2021)

Just wrote this a few minutes ago in about 10 minutes (haha!). It’s not quite a poem, and it’s not quite a song, either. Well, I do have a tune in my head, but I have no idea how to put it to song. (story of my life!) Anyways, this is about… being fearless in my old age. Being fearless brings on some wonderful things, and I can’t wait to live the rest of my life unafraid of what’s to come. Enjoy!

“Fearless” was written on November 15, 2021 and is contained in my personal poetry book for Oct-Nov 2021, ‘Earthly Delights in a Closed Type Universe.”

“Fearless” by Brian Bolding

Oh no I won’t let my fear

Of the future get in the way

I’ve got too much life to spend

No more dwelling about yesterday

*

I’m not the boy I used to be

Now I’m a man with a big strong heart

I’m not the boy I thought I was

A little Self-awareness is a good place to start

*

(Chorus)

Today I’m fearless

Fearless for what’s to come

Today I’m fearless

No longer bitter and numb

Today I’m fearless

Fearless for what’s to come

I may be your brother

But I march to a different drum

*

Oh no I won’t let my apprehension

Of old bad decisions cloud my head

It’s time to put one foot in front of the other

Oh man how my heart bled

Crying over people who never loved me

As much as I deserved to be loved

Screaming over people who used me

I never realized until I was shoved

*

(Chorus 2)

Baby I’m fearless

Fearless of what’s to come

Baby I’m fearless

No longer a day late and love dumb

Baby I’m fearless

Fearless of what’s to come

Today I’m fearless

And I’m gonna go get me some.
