Another week, another school shooting massacre. We’ve all become “used to it,” and we never truly should. This poem came to me while walking my dogs on Memorial Day, 2022, in the aftermath of the tragedy in Uvalde, Texas, where 19 elementary school students were massacred by an 18-year-old, as well as 2 adults, while 19 cops stood nearby and did nothing for over an hour. You’ve seen it on the TV

maybe heard about it on the radio

more kids mowed down, it’s just another

day in the U.S.A. don’t you know

More politicians watch and stare

stuffing their pockets full of blood money

Little Lucy didn’t come home tonight

Have you seen her, honey?

There will be no revolution tonight

Hold & Hug your kids real tight

There will be no revolution

The revolution will not be televised

Don’t let them out of your sight

They’re gone in a flash, out like a light

There will be no revolution

The anger is mountain sized

You’ve seen it on TV

more kids gunned down by an assault rifle or two

Is nothing in life sacred in the U.S.A.?

I’m afraid not, this place is a disgusting zoo

More gross fat hateful politicians

eat rosemary potatoes & sizzling steak dinners

And wash it all down with $100 bottles of NRA wine

I guess we all can’t be winners

There will be no revolution tonight

Somebody turned out the light

There will be no revolution

The revolution will not be televised

Blood runs down the streets alright

For we walk by faith not by sight

There will be no revolution

Assault rifles are just as useless as I’d realized

Your little Timmy’s life cut short

He was all of nine years old

“I offer you my deepest condolences & support”

Another day, another dollar

Another nameless face on the news

I’ve had it, I’ve simply had it

Well here’s some news you can use

Vote. That will make your voice heard alright.
