As 2022 draws to a close, I reflect back upon the ways in which I have closed yet another chapter of my life with writing about the past and have moved on. I hope everyone had a happy, healthy & joyous holiday with those you love the most, while opening your heart to new friends & giving back to your communities. Here's to an amazing new year! Here's to the future! There's a big new road ahead of us all. -BB #poetry #writing
11.16.22 “Manzano” (Poetry, 2012)
Shortly after I moved here to Albuquerque to 'start over' after a string of long term failed relationships (and a dead end career) in Dallas, TX, where I lived on and off for 35 years, I settled in to a room in a local church that was $300 per month, all bills paid... Another week, another school shooting massacre. We've all become "used to it," and we never truly should. This poem came to me while walking my dogs on Memorial Day, 2022, in the aftermath of the tragedy in Uvalde, Texas, where 19 elementary school students were massacred by an 18-year-old, as well as 2 adults, while 19 cops stood nearby and did nothing for over an hour. Feel angry? You should. And you should make your voice count at the polls this year. Here's how I also deal with mine. Read on...

04.23.22 Under the Waves (Poetry)
On April 21, I visited my big Sis in Socal along with my TX family. We met up and took Mom (for her 69th birthday) to Catalina Island on the Catalina Flyer ship. The waves got pretty brutal going over on Friday, 4/22, and it made me re-evaluate my life & my new choices, and how I can now stand in my own power. This poem was written in 'real time' on 4/23/22 @ 9:49 AM PST
