“Remembrances of You” was written about the second anniversary of my Dad’s passing this past July. He passed away in me and my Sister’s arms and suffered with dementia and COPD. The poem was written on December 5, 2021 and is in my personal poetry book, ‘Earthly Delights in a Closed Type Universe.’ Enjoy, and say a little prayer for my Dad’s spirit tonight. xx -bb
“Remembrances of You” by Brian Bolding
Thinking about
All those normal ordinary times
Throwaway moments like going to the bookstore
And you talking to me playing your blues on the radio
Bumping along, knowing you’d do anything
To make us all happy but not without some yelling
We always knew you loved us, no matter what
Today, since you’ve been gone
Over two years ago
I can’t believe how fast time has flown
Since we held your hands as you left us
Daddy, we miss you each day
In each and every way
And our memories of you
Will never ever die
We will keep your spirit alive
Tell your jokes and make you fly.
